I know I haven't been updating this blog lately because I have no ROM hack ideas and I've been keeping myself busy with my drawings. I've been spending most of my time not only on deviantART, but converting my art blog to a Tumblr kind. Yep, I have a Tumblr blog and I thought that I would never need it, but... Tumblr has more features and people compared to Blogger. A true calling is just lying ahead of me, so I must go on and give it a rest from ROM Hacking.

Kristian Vasquez's ROM Hacking Zone
ROM Hacking is the art of modifying an old video game (i.e. Super Mario Bros. and Sonic The Hedgehog) with a hint of you're imagination. I, too, have that talent which you can see in this blog. My name is Kristian Vasquez and I like to make ROM Hacks. I even find ROM hacks by other people and edit the flaws they left unchanged or incorrectly changed so they're properly developed. Tell me what you think!

Diamond Dog is here!
Download it here!
This is what I've been working on. I managed to ponify Donkey Kong into something I had in my mind. It was worth the wait! If you have any suggestions that I should be concerned about, comment below.

I fixed Super Wario Bros. 2!
Gamers, I have improved Super Wario Bros. 2 by Son of EEK! Productions. This is the 2nd ROM hack I improved from someone else, rendering Pony Poki Panic the 1st (see My Little ROM Hacks). Here are some differences I put in the hack. Not only did I edit Wario's properties into partly matching Toad's, but...
I made Mario and Luigi look like how they appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2. The only difference on Mario is that I let Mario keep his skin color in this hack because Mario looks better this way.
I made the Subcons look like how they appeared in the Super Mario All-Stars version of SMB2 (Note: those sprites were taken from Kristian: Toyland Terror).
I even fixed the ending!

Rodger Rabbit:FDS -> NES
This is my 2nd transformation I plan to make of an NES game to its FDS counterpart, that is The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle into Rodger Rabbit. The 1st one was the Doki Doki Panic transformation.
There's pretty much the title screen I left unedited, but I changed the sprites and pallete used in the game-play anyway, even the ending!

My Little... update to Pony Poki Panic.
Update (2/15/17): ...Don't ask why I came back here.
You already know Pony Poki Panic, but here are 3 edits I put in the hack:
1)Title Screen (Correctly says "Pony Poki Panic" instead of "Pony Poki Bros. 2", palette change because of Twilight Sparkle placed under the title, and (C)2011 HERO1000 expanded to (C)2011, 2012 H.O.T. 1000/Kris V.)
2)Looping Animation (now it uses the 8th frame because I changed 1FB05's value from 26 to 28)
3)Fixed "Bonus Game" in the slot machine
DDP and SMB2 - Platform Switch!
Ever wonder what happens if Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2 switched their platforms? Now, you'll know because of these hacks I developed.

I realized that the Super Mario 2 Beta featured tons of elements similar to those in Doki Doki Panic (slot machine, non-animated sprites, running disability, etc.), so I had the thought of reconverting the SMB2 Beta into a cartridge version of Doki Doki Panic.
Edit (6/20/13)
-Title screen music removed
-Matched the character selection screen with the original one
-Deleted the sound effect used when a character is selected
Edit (7/1/13)
(12 PM) I moved the characters' positions around to be equivalent to those of DDP. Yes, everybody's properties are still the same, but the ending glitches are now gone thanks to that.
(4 PM) Sorry about the ending. Well, I fixed it.

I wanted to see what would happen if Super Mario 2 really was a hack of Doki Doki Panic, so this had to be made. After you play it for a bunch, it'll feel like you're playing the Super Mario 2 prototype but forgetting that you're literally playing Doki Doki Panic.
